“It was many and many a year ago, in a kingdom by the sea. That a maiden there lived whom you may know, by the name of Annabel Lee”.

Based on the poem ‘Annabel Lee’ by Edgar Allan Poe and set in the aftermath of the First World War, and under the long lingering shadow of the Irish-Anglo conflict, ‘Annabel Lee’ is a tale of a forbidden love between two young stowaways from opposite sides of the Irish sea. As the couple run for their lives, they make it as far as a a cottage on the coast, awaiting rescue to take them to safety. With the end of their journey in sight, they finally allow themselves to believe they might have made it. However, E. and Annabel begin to see signs that not all is as it seems. Is this the work of malevolent spirits? Annabel’s dangerous family ties? Or simply the misgivings of traumatised minds? With limited time on their hands the two must come to a decision before it is too late.

“I’m very impressed! It was so beautiful and lyrical and lovely and sad”. – Nicole Holofcener (Academy Award Nominated writer/Director)

“I couldn’t recommend more this cinematic exploration of one of the most beautiful poems ever written by Poe. From a new and exciting feminine perspective, Amy Coop manages to capture the wildest side of the landscape and confront it with the beauty of Angel Parker who portrays Annabel Lee as desirably fragile as she is courageous when fighting her fate” – Guillem Morales (BAFTA Award winning Writer/Director)

“Annabel Lee is visually stunning, a small film on an epic scale, and Angel Parker is absolutely captivating” – Sadie Jones (Award winning Screenwriter & Novelist)
