Hi All, Just wanted to say Hi to one and all. The Mirror and The Light is going well. Enjoying it hugely. Audiences seem to like it. Hugely disappointing that the worst show so far was Press Night, but I guess, sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles. All the cast and crew are fab and working hard. We have had a few understudies on recently, which has been exciting. They have all stepped up to the plate with great gusto and the love for them from the cast is a joy to watch.
Yesterday we had our first full compliment for about 10 days and at the end of the first half I saw all the girls, 7 of them, go into a huddle, like at a sports match. They were celebrating themselves, and quite right too. There isn't a team that could beat them! i have rarely known a company like this.
On the publicity front, I can't remember if I mentioned it, but the Sunday Times Wine Podcast will come out soon. I think I am in the second episode. Very good fun. Learnt a lot and as usual talked a lot. But then I do love wine. I think I am doing a wee TV interview next week, but I'll let you know if that happens.
World wide news? Where to begin. Thrown Steve Bannon in Jail! That'd be a good place to start. What kind of a conscience must Trump and Bannon et al have? How can they believe that it is the right thing to do, to try to bring down democracy? I mean I get that they would rather run the US as their own private company, but look how bad at that Trump already is? Ooops, rabbit hole. Stop now or I'll get carried away. We have enough of our troubles with Boris and his crew. Jeez, how hard would it be to do what he has always said he was doing, and listen to the scientists? Make masks mandatory, encourage social distancing again. I have friends over from France & Italy who are amazed at the casual nature of the British people, when it comes to basic protections. The reason I am so worried is that, although the govt have said no more restrictions, they will turn on a coin & I do not want theatres to close again. More Oooops. More rabbit holes.
